Storm Planning Model

Our Storm Planning Model is useful prior to storms, enabling utilities to model the weather and its possible impacts to the power delivery system. Through this process, Davies Consulting clients are able to plan ahead, identifying strengths and planning ahead for resource acquisition based upon their unique operating constraints and distribution system characteristics.  While every storm is different and utility circumstances vary, the model’s outputs can help utilities’ develop data-based plans and make operational decisions that are directly tied to reality-based storm scenarios.

How does it work?

  • Project several possible storm paths and impacts
  • Evaluate various recovery scenarios (assessing a variety of infrastructure impact scenarios)
  • Test differing resource allocation and restoration prioritization variables
  • Can be used during an after-action assessment to evaluate actual storm performance
